Enrollment at Southside Family Charter School is open to any eligible student in grades K-8!
Grades 1st-8th
For students in 1st-8th grades, admission occurs on a rolling basis as space permits. All you have to do is complete an Online Enrollment Form or a Printable Enrollment Form (one per child). Once your form has been received by the school, your child's name will be placed on the waiting list for their grade. You will be contacted when we have an opening for your child. Remember to keep your contact information current with us because we will contact you at the end of each school year that your child remains on our waiting lists to offer you the option of rolling over to the next year's waiting lists. Your child will remain in their same position on the list for the next school year.
Kindergarten Enrollment Lottery
As a public school, we are required to admit Kindergarten-aged students based on a random lottery. In order to begin Kindergarten at Southside your child must be 5 years old by the first day of school. The lottery is held each spring in mid-March to align our notification with that of Minneapolis Public Schools. Please note that Southside's application process is independent of Minneapolis Public School's process -- Do not list Southside as one of your choice schools.
The random Kindergarten lottery determines which students who have submitted an enrollment form by the deadline will attend Kindergarten at Southside, and which students will be wait listed for future openings. You will be notified by mail within one week of the lottery of your child's enrollment status.
Please note that siblings of current students and children of staff receive priority in the Kindergarten lottery.
