THE SOUTHSIDE MURAL
About thirty people came to the Mural Tour on Thursday, March 18th. Greta McLain, Carlo, Rachel, Mose and Bethany talked to us about the process of creating the mural; the ideas, the painting and the aesthetics. We had a chance to talk about the various elements in the mural that we noticed and what the significance of the different aspects of the mural might be. Greta talked about teaching students about the importance of visual movement in a mural. “I have seen this mural many times”, one parent said, “but I now have a much richer understanding of the whole piece.”
The mural is mounted on the hallway wall of the school across from Room 109. Thanks to Valspar Foundation for the paint and thanks to David, Ross, and JB for mounting the mural on the wall.
