Southside Family Charter
School (SFCS) is a nationally recognized award-winning, K-8
urban elementary school located in South Minneapolis. Founded in
1972, we provide an academically challenging, socially conscious
education to a diverse community of learners. We are proud to offer
a
social justice curriculum, small class sizes (10-14 students
for grades K-6, up to 20 students in grades 7-8) and hands on
learning.
We are
dedicated to academic excellence, innovation in curriculum, and
family and community involvement. Our commitment to civil rights
and social justice has fostered a curriculum that develops children
who are leaders in their communities and the world. Our small size
allows us to build strong relationships with students and families
while our use of the community as a classroom exposes young people
to many learning opportunities outside the school's
walls.
SFCS's
impressive record on statewide testing illustrates the strength of
our curriculum and is notable evidence that children from all
backgrounds can succeed when expectations are high and educators
respond to each child as an individual. SFCS's educational model
has changed the way thousands of people think about
education.
